New Data Center Park for Hetzner Online in Germany
Gunzenhausen/Nuremberg, Germany, March 2011. A groundbreaking ceremony brought together data center staff, city leaders and contractors in a symbolic start to work on a brand new data center park in Nuremberg, Germany, for international webhosting company Hetzner Online AG. The first two units of the high-performance data center will house up to 30,000 servers and are expected to be up and running by the end of the year.The continued positive development of Hetzner Online prompted the company to source Nuremberg as the ideal location for future expansion. With an area of 40,000 m² the Nuremberg site has the potential capacity for over 100,000 servers to meet future demand. The site is supported by excellent fibre optic connections for a fast exchange of data and its substation proximity allows for a readily available supply of power.

The Nuremberg project will be built to the highest standards. High-performance direct free cooling, surveillance and security equipment, as well as backup generating facilities to ensure an uninterrupted power supply, will support the IT infrastructure needed to provide a smooth and efficient service. Engineers will be on duty 24/7 offering flexible support and high-performance IT solutions to Hetzner Online´s increasingly international client portfolio.
